Yeast Infection Diet - Foods to Avoid and Foods to Add
The idea of following a yeast infection diet may make you cringe and want to run and hide, but making a few changes to the way you eat is a small sacrifice to rid yourself of these infections for good! Anyone who gets regular yeast infections will welcome any suggestion that will lead them back to a life free of the itching and discomfort.
Since these infections are caused by an overgrowth in our systems, the point of the diet is to rid your body of the excess fungus (which is actually a fungus called Candida albicans) and to also get your body armed with what it needs to keep the yeast in your body under control. We all have yeast in our bodies, but sometimes changes to our chemistry or damage to our immune systems causes it to grow out of control causing an infection.
The diet is made up of things to avoid and things to get more of. Here they are;
FOODS TO AVOID
· Breads
· Cakes and pastries
· Barely
· Sugar and all the products that contain it, including fruit
· Alcohol - especially beer
FOODS TO ADD
· Fresh garlic
· Probiotic yogurt
· Apple Cider Vinegar
· Leafy vegetables and legumes
· Whole grains
· More water!
Along with the diet, you should also be doing anything else that you possibly can to help your immune system get strong and this includes things like exercising regularly, not smoking and getting enough rest. Adding a good multivitamin -yeast free of course-to the mix is also a great idea to help things along. Following this diet and staying on top of your overall health will have you feeling back to yourself before you know it and will show you that these changes were definitely worth it!
